Shell V-Power LEGO® 2014/2015 Collection. Now in Malaysia!

Still remember about these promotional Lego Ferrari polybag released in late 2012/ early 2013?

I'm sure many people know about the appearance of a second wave of these set in late 2014/early 2015. Our neighbouring country, Singaporean have enjoyed this promotion almost a year ago (29 August to 20 November 2014).

At the time, I'm sure many Malaysian disappointed because there are rumours  saying that these polybag will not be available in Malaysia at all. This is because there was news in the month of October 2014 says that LEGO to end its partnership with Shell, due to pressure from environmental groups. (-_-)'

But now, I can't believe we Malaysian also could enjoy the same promotion! Despite having to wait almost a year, many Malaysian will be relieved with this promotion. Some of my friends had to spend almost RM250 for the full set of 7 before!

Phew, what a good news. The promotion for the second series of Shell LEGO sets runs from 1 November 2015 to 31 January 2016 available at Shell petrol stations around the Malaysia with a new model released each week.

You may check Shell Malaysia's website for more details, especially the TNC. You will be able to collect 7 exclusive models featuring four iconic Ferrari cars, a special limited edition Shell Tanker, a Finish Line podium and a Shell Station modelled after the one at Fiorano circuit, Scuderia Ferrari’s private racetrack in Maranello, Italy.

I have found these posters regarding this promotion:

Same information found on Shell Malaysia website:

Eh wait, where's the 40196 Shell Tanker? It's not in the list!!!!

Ahahaa.. calm down...

Shell Malaysia already state these release date for the Lego set:
(that's why i told you to check the TNC :D)

40190 Ferrari F138 – 1 November 2015
40195 Shell Station – 8 November 2015
40192 Ferrari 250 GTO – 15 November 2015
40191 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – 22 November 2015
40193 Ferrari 512 S – 29 November 2015
40194 Finish Line and Podium – 6 December 2015
40196 Shell Tanker – 13 December 2015

I hate it when they put "limited edition" to any toy or lego set. that's when the scalpers go crazy! In ebay, you may find this tanker at price tag between RM70 to RM90.. each!

I wonder if Shell Malaysia also will bring in display case for these set. I remember sharing this pic in my post before.

If it is true display case like this is going on for sale, meaning it will become more "rare and limited" than 40196 Shell Tanker. ahaha...

The display case that we might get may look like this [Image found on the internet]

Oh my it's sooooooooo awesome! If i'm not mistaken, it is the same case design that was distributed in Indonesia earlier this year :))

  1. You guys just got this set now? It already released in Indonesia around January 2015...

Anyway better be quick to get the tanker, that one is the rarest due to scalpers :)

    1. Hi @Teguh Aditya. thanks for the heads up. it seems like many people are already aware that the tanker is the most difficult set to get. Some say every patrol station will get 150bags of tanker, instead the usual 200 bags of other set. anyway, we'll never outran scalpers. I just missed winter seasonal set 40124 and 40125. finished in 10-15minutes after the shop open and they are already for sale in 1 hour for RM30 to RM40 mark up. that is 100% mark up hahah

    2. I reached 12:20AM at the nearest Shell station in PJ to see about 35 people already in front (though some of them bought more than one 40196 polybag via multiple receipts). I've got one to finally complete the collection, and plan to hunt for one more at another station that opens in the morning (if, of course, the queue there isn't that too long).

    3. UPDATE: Got the second one after a short queue, though I was a bit miffed that some customers left their cars unattended at the pumps while they're at the shop counter. Come on, people who haven't bought fuel yet are waiting for the spaces in front to be cleared away. You can just park on the roadside not far away after you're done at the pumps.

    4. Hi @Anonymous. I believe each of us (i'm referring to us Malaysians) has our own story (or i could say.. nightmare) how we got these polybags. I'm just happy that i manage to complete it even though i don't have extra. One set is enough ahaha. my house is at bukit antrabangsa so i gotta commute using MRR2. on the day they released the tanker, i stuck in traffic almost half an hour between taman melawati and sri ukay. I also heard at some place the que to get these start hours before these petrol station operated and finish in 30minutes (^_^)'. Of course i didn't get mine myself. luckily i got help from my friend staying in Melaka. ahah

    1. Hi @anonymous. thank you for the info. I'm very nervous now. i wonder how many unit each patrol station will have for sale :(

    2. Each Shell Station allocated 12 unit of display. on the 1st day alone, all the Shell Stations in KL has been swept clean! Try your luck on downtown Shell, or small town Shell. Even in Johor, Singaporeans flock to get the LEGO first, left the Malaysian empty handed.

  5. I'm buying podium and station sets. The cars, I'll pass.

The thing that bothers me most is the minifigs. They still use stickers, just like the first wave. How nice if they have printed torso.

    1. Hi @apodistagon. I also prefer the podium and station wayyyy more than the cars. The station has 79 bricks while most of the cars only 40plus bricks hence I feel it is more value for money than another set. i saw someone on facebook combine a few set of the station and it's awesome!

    3. Wow so nice!

I bought station polybag on Tues. I'll try to refuel again today and grab one more pack, if still ada stock. Yea compared to the cars, this week's polybag offers the most for ur money.

Please lah Shell ... use printed torso in the next wave pls.

  6. Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO of the LEGO Group, comments on the Greenpeace campaign using the LEGO® brand to target Shell.

Children are our major concern and the central focus of our company. We are determined to leave a positive impact on society and the planet that children will inherit. Our unique contribution is through inspiring and developing children by delivering creative play experiences all over the world.

A co-promotion like the one with Shell is one of many ways we are able to bring LEGO bricks into the hands of more children and deliver on our promise of creative play.

The Greenpeace campaign uses the LEGO brand to target Shell. As we have stated before, we firmly believe Greenpeace ought to have a direct conversation with Shell. The LEGO brand, and everyone who enjoys creative play, should never have become part of Greenpeace’s dispute with Shell.

Our stakeholders have high expectations to the way we operate. So do we. We do not agree with the tactics used by Greenpeace that may have created misunderstandings among our stakeholders about the way we operate; and we want to ensure that our attention is not diverted from our commitment to delivering creative and inspiring play experiences.

The long-term co-promotion contract we entered with Shell in 2011 delivers on the objective of bringing LEGO bricks into the hands of many children, and we will honour it – as we would with any contract we enter.

We continuously consider many different ways of how to deliver on our promise of bringing creative play to more children. We want to clarify that as things currently stand we will not renew the co-promotion contract with Shell when the present contract ends.

We do not want to be part of Greenpeace’s campaign and we will not comment any further on the campaign. We will continue to deliver creative and inspiring LEGO play experiences to children all over the world.

Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, President and Chief Executive Officer of the LEGO Group.
